How To Read Sheet Music
Reading sheet music is something that most guitar players seem to have a lot of trouble with or just don’t bother learning. Hopefully this online guitar lesson will get you up to speed on the basics of how to read sheet music on the guitar.
The first thing you need to know in order to read sheet music is the names of the lines and spaces on the treble clef. The names of the lines are E G B D and F, and the names of the spaces are F A C and E. The best thing to do is to just memorize the names until you have them down cold. Here is a picture of the names of the lines and spaces of the treble clef. Notice that if you start on the bottom line and work your way up through each line and space the notes simply go in alphabetical order.
The next thing you need to be able to do is find any given note on the fretboard. Work on memorizing the names of the lines and spaces. Once you have that down you can focus on learning the names of the notes on the guitar fretboard.
